In Case You Missed It: Webinar on How to Leverage Government Funding for EV Fast Chargers

Last Friday, May 1st ChargePoint—a global leader in EV charging solutions—hosted a Fast Charging for Canadian Utilities Webinar on How to Leverage Government Funding  for Optimal EV Charging. In case you missed it, we are happy to summarize the key points for you.

It’s inevitable that electric vehicle (EV) sales are on the rise. Car manufacturers are increasingly investing in EVs and the Canadian government is working hard to to build an infrastructure that can support a drastic increase in EV drivers. Canada’s goal is to have 100% of car sales be EV by year 2040, and their mission to create the infrastructure for it is anything but short. Part of how this goal is to be achieved, is through government funding and EV charging incentive programs to organizations like yours.

So what are some of the reasons that constitute CharegPoint’s technology as the worlds #1 EV charging solution?

Quality ensured by rigorous testing.

As an industry leader, ChargePoint takes product testing to the next level. From load and impact testing to extreme thermal, temperature and weather conditions, UV and solar testing, ingress and automated stress testing, ChargePoint technology guarantees top notch quality and performance in any condition. EV charging stations are resilient throughout a variety of use case scenarios. A few that stand out are the fact that it is nearly impossible for the EV chargers to rust, fade, crack or break down in any weather condition. EV charging stations can perform well in Sahara desert-like temperatures, as well as Antarctica-like temperatures in deep amounts of snow. ChargePoint technology maintains only a NEMA 3R standard or better; ensuring all electronic components are maintained and operationally successful throughout the long-life cycle of the unit.

Advanced features

ChargePoint EV charging stations consist of several advanced features. A few worthy of mentioning are energy management and cost savings, a strong mobile application that was recently listed on Apples App of the Day, find available station technology for EV drivers, and advanced security built within the platform.

ChargePoint takes data security very seriously and has built their cloud-based platform around protecting driver and customer data—ensuring they meet Canadian data security standards.

Moreover ChargePoint provides a world-class level of customer service and support. Driver support is available 24/7 via telephone or a simple message through the app.

Success Nova Scotia Power has had with ChargePoint EV charging solutions.

The webinar also featured Sanjeev Pushkarna, Manager, Customer Solutions Nova Scotia Power who explained how EV charging stations have helped Nova Scotia Power ensure 60% of its electricity comes from non-enmity resources. Nova Scotia Power has selected ChargePoint technology on numerous occasions due to the flexibility it can provide with user group access controls, as well as the fact that they provide a reliable turnkey EV charging solution.

Phase 3 of NRCan’s Electric Vehicle and Alternative Fuel Infrastructure Deployment Initiative.

Saving the best for last, the webinar provided an overview of NRCans Phase 3 funding opportunity for Fast EV charging solution in Canada—Electric Vehicle and Alternative Fuel Infrastructure Deployment Initiative (EVAFID).

Focused on creating an EV charging infrastructure in underserved areas across Canada’s highway system, EVAFID provides organizations within a one kilometre radius of highways the opportunity to have their Fast EV charging stations, in combination with level-2 charging stations subsidized by up to 50% (an even higher in British Columbia due provincial incentive programs).

Due to COVID-19 the EVAFID application deadline has been extended to Thursday, July 23rd, 2020. Successful applicants will be announced in Fall 2020.
